Apprenticeships are work-based training schemes that are specifically designed around employers.

An Apprenticeship includes the following components:

  • A competence based element, such as an NVQ or work-based Diploma
  • A knowledge based element such as a technical certificate
  • Transferable or 'functional skills', such as maths and English
  • A module on employment rights and responsibilities

The National Minimum Wage for Apprenticeships is £3.30ph (c. £125.40 per 38hour week) for apprentices aged under 19 and apprentices aged 19 or over in the first year of their Apprenticeship.

Thereafter, if they are aged 19 and above the national minimum wage for their age applies. £3.30 per hour applies to time working, plus time spent training that is part of the Apprenticeship.

As skills develop employers may wish to increase wages.

Our dedicated Business Development team can provide all the advice you need about various funding grants that may be available to your business, grants start from around £1,500 and further funding may be available (all depend on eligibility criteria) we can help you with this every step of the way.

Apprenticeships are available for anyone over 16 years.

If an applicant already has a degree, then they are not eligible to receive funding for their training. This would need to be covered by the Apprentice or their employer.

If you are an SME and are either new to recruiting apprentices or have not taken on an apprentice in the last 12 months, you may be eligible to a Grant.
